The game is entitled Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3. A little bit of history bout this game; although the title is Persona 3...it is actually the fourth from its series and all the previous game got good reviews. Persona 3, never the less is a great game :)
Later at the same night the dorm gets attacked by some kind of monster. When Yukari and you are running to the roof for safety, the monster climbs on the wall after you. But at that moment Yukari is pointing the gun to her head, but why?! Was she out of her mind doing that or is it for some other reason… it gets clear to you after taking the gun from her and shoot yourself in the head. A moment later you’re still standing but somehow you’ve summoned a monster referred to in the game as a Persona. As the battle gets more intense the monster also known a Persona transforms into an unknown creature that you used this to win the intense battle. The game continues with Yukari looking at you, and you collapse as everything turns to dark..
Thats kinda how the game introduction is. The gameplay quite different from common RPGs we have in market rite now. It gave a new breath in role playing which are made from Japan although not totally different. The game revolves around life of a high school student. U have to juggle school (there are quiz and exam, really!), relationship with friends and potential girlfriends and of cause fighting baddies :P The bad guys are called shadows and for peoples who know the anime called Bleach, its sorta-like Hollows. The shadows only appear and attack people on 25th hour everyday and these kids are the one protecting us. Wait a sec, did i say 25th hour? wtf? yeah, 25th hour. its a hidden hour appeared right after the clock hits 12.00 a.m. This hour a called Dark hour in the game.
In order to fight these shadows, the character we're using will shoot his head with a special gun called the Envoker in order to summon or activate the persona in them. Persona is kinda ur em...guardian? power within? what ever it is, it will help u through out the game in various ways. Every character/groups has a connection a type of Persona. For example when you hang out and chat a lot with Kenji, your link with Magic Persona improves. All the choices you make in the game have influence of the later events of the game which makes the gameplay very good. The RPG system in the game is also worked out intensively and it can be seen as a mix between Pokemon and Digimon. But it has its own set of rules.
Later when u go further in the game, u'll get more persona and u will be given an option to fuse together two or more personas in order to get a new persona with new capabilities and higher level. Fusing personaes together also may leads us to getting a rare persona :) There is a lot more to tell in gameplay but i think i'll stop here :P In term of graphic, I’m really impressed with the fully cell shaded characters and enviroment in the game. The dark and bright colour overtones really blend in together and gives a unique personality to the game. The character designs for the game are also quite impressive, both human characters and Personas wise. The sound quality is also good but i wouldnt call it great. although i must give credit to the in-game OST, for me its help to set the mood. One thing i do hate bout this game is the menus are not that user friendly. It really start to irritates when there’s lot of things to configure
Last but not least, this game, for sure is one of the best RPG games paying homage to the almost retired Playstation 2 :)
A little of fan-service never hurt anybody...aiiiight :P
